VISION FOR SOUTHWEST FRESNO
Everyone deserves access to healthy food. But in too many American cities, food deserts and systemic inequities limit this access. Fresno, California is an agriculturally rich region, but nutritious food is not accessible or affordable for all of its residents. To combat this, two nonprofits, Fresno Metro Ministry and St. Rest Baptist Church, partnered to create the St. Rest + Food to Share Hub – a robust, equitable and place-based investment in Southwest Fresno for food recovery, storage and distribution.

Expanding Access to Small Dollar Loans for Low- and Moderate-Income Consumers in the Central Valley
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is convening an "Expanding Access to Small Dollar Loans for Low- and Moderate-Income Consumers in the Central Valley" webinar on August 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. PT.
Many communities in the Central Valley lack access to responsible consumer credit due to cultural and geographic barriers, and instead rely upon high cost alternative lenders. This webinar will highlight effective strategies to increase consumer credit and financial capability through partnerships among financial institutions, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), and non-profits. Additionally, bankers will learn how to offer small dollar loans (SDLs) through core technology as several new small dollar loan products have emerged.
The target audience includes community stakeholders such as CDFIs, non-profit organizations, bankers (product managers, compliance officers, CRA Officers, community development managers/directors), and government agencies seeking alternative credit access options for underserved communities.

Route to Parks
Parks California
Deadline: Aug 5, 2022
|
Parks California
The Route to Parks grants program is focused on providing experiences in State Parks to underrepresented communities. Studies have shown that communities of color continuously have unequal transit access to large public green spaces (1). For example, in Los Angeles, 41% of lower-income households do not have immediate access to a park, and many large regional parks, including state parks, do not have direct transit line access (2). By supporting local organizations that are addressing the physical and mental barriers to access that park-poor communities face, we collectively support communities in their personal journey to connecting with the outdoors.
